When Paula first posted this picture I inquired about the dogs that Charlie seems to be very proud of. Since then, I have spoke to a fellow in Wilkes County, NC that has a dog that looks like these. He states that they are a historical breed named Mountain Cur. There are very few breeders and it is a close knit group of hunters that breed them. These dogs are very loyal and well behaved. They instinctively know how to tree a racoon in which they were bread for.
