Funeral services for Barney Benson Mullis, 88, of 14740 Hatley Burris Rd., Stanfield, were held September 22, 2000, at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard Brundin and the Rev. Larry Linker presiding.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mullis died September 20, 2000, at home.

He was born May 19, 1912, in Union County, son of Sarah Ellen Mullis. Mr. Mullis worked in the card room at Tuscarora Yarns. He was a member of Indian Hill Presbyterian Church and married to the late Minnie Emily Thomas Mullis.

Survivors include sons, Rex Mullis and Glenn Mullis, both of Stanfield, Warren Mullis of Mooresville, and Leroy Mullis and Archie Mullis, both of Cassatt, S.C.; daughters, Dianne Page of Monroe, Ruby Mullis of Stanfield and Rita Little of Oakboro; sister, Alice Furr of Stanfield; 27 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred James Mullis.
