Apr. 28--DURHAM -- Durham will get its own hospice center. The state approved
Duke HomeCare & Hospice's plan to build a 12-bed center at Roxboro Street and
Fraiser Road. The 5.5-acre tract is about a mile away from Durham Regional
Hospital. Duke Hospice already operates one hospice center in Hillsborough.

The center will serve patients who may need more help with pain management than
they can get from hospice in their homes.

The center will also serve surrounding counties including Franklin, Granville
and Person, said program manager Carol Ann Mullis.
