Carrie Taylor Mullis, age 41, of Roaring River, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Alleghany County September 5, 1964, the daughter of the late Ares Taylor and Bertha Wagoner Taylor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Mullis, Sr.; three sisters, Pearlie Fender, Anna Mae Taylor, and Verna Mae Taylor; and two brothers, Lee Taylor and James Taylor.

Survivors include a daughter, Carrie Giles of Gastonia; a son, John Wayne Mullis, Jr., of Sparta; seven sisters, Mary Perry of Sparta, Betty Wyatt, Linda Brown, and Ruby Taylor, all of North Wilkesboro, Minnie Wagoner and Barbara Johnson, both of Roaring River, and Brenda Rogregais of Jefferson; three brothers, Johnny Taylor of Traphill, Jimmy Taylor of North Wilkesboro, and Odell Taylor of Hayes; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Jesus Church in McGrady with Rev. Wiley Boggs and Rev. Gladys Dollinger officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
