0000453910-01-1_08-31-2007.jpgMrs. Oma Alice Mullis Cox died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at her home.

She was born Nov. 9, 1939. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Moravian Church. Mrs. Cox attended Central Elementary and James A. Gray High School.

She and her husband, Kenneth Ray Cox, were married on March 4, 1956, and he survives her of the home.

Mrs. Cox was a faithful member of Evangeline Rebekah Lodge No. 27 since 1981 and served as past Noble Grand and Fifth District president.

She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, with a generous heart for all her many friends and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellison Dewey Mullis and Edith Johnson Mullis, both of Winston-Salem; and also by her brothers, Montie Mullis of Guam and Albert Scott Mullis of Winston-Salem. She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth E. (Shirley) Mullis and Johnny W. (Karen) Mullis of Chartley, Mass. She is also survived by her children, Melody Lynn Cox McKaughn of Clemmons; Alan Ray (Diana) Cox of Pfafftown; Jean Kristina Cox Bangert of Welcome; and Carol Dyan Cox Anders of Farmington; and her grandchildren, Amanda Cox Templeton, Jennifer Cox, Kevin Cox, Candace Hawkins Arey, Corey Hawkins, Kasey Orrell, Dane Fillers, Dustin Fillers, Nicholas Anders and Austin Cox.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Trinity Moravian Church, with the Rev. Richard Spaugh and the Rev. Henry E. May Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Evangeline Lodge No. 27, 422 N. Trade St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101; Trinity Moravian Church, 220 E. Sprague St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127; or Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
