WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Hazel Sharp Barbour, 86, of 1238 N.C. 65 West, Walnut Cove, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Stokes-Reynolds Regional Medical Center. Born in Iredell County on Feb. 23, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Leander Washington Sharp Sr. and Josie Mullis Sharp. She was a graduate of Harmony High School in 1938 and a graduate of Guilford College in 1942. She taught school for 39 years. Hazel was a member of Winthrop Friends Meeting in Harmony. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charles Thomas Barbour; and a brother, Harold Sharp. Left to cherish her memory are a brother, L.W. Sharp Jr., and his wife, Julia, of Raleigh; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services celebrating Hazel' s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Winthrop Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Harold Salmons and the Rev. Terry Kersey officiating. Her body will be in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening, Nov. 23, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Winthrop Friends Meeting, 262 Winthrop Road, Harmony, NC 28634. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
