Myrtle Smith Mullis LOCUST -- Mrs. Mullis, 94, of 809 N. Central Ave., died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at NorthEast Medical Center. She was born October 10, 1911 in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late Renia Drake Barbee. Funeral is 4:00 PM Friday, May 26, at Freedom Baptist Church, Locust, with Rev. Gerald Baucom and Rev. Daniel McClamrock officiating. Interment in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Locust. The family will meet at the home of daughter-in-law Evelyn Smith, 808 N. Central Ave., Locust, and will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. Mrs. Mullis was a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church, Locust. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ned and Hazel Smith, and Lewis H. and Linda Mullis, both of Locust; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Johnny Burnette of Stanfield, Libby and Jerry Barbee of Albemarle, Linda and Danny Whitley of Locust, and Lois Cantrell of Locust; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hamilton Mullis; son, Wade D. Smith; grandsons, Barry Mullis and Terry Mullis; and granddaughter, Renia Burnette.
