Washington Post, The (DC) - December 17, 1983 Julia Mullis Rood, 66, a retired substitute teacher in the Fairfax County public school system and a member of the Naval Officers Wives Club, died of cancer Dec. 14 at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center.

Mrs. Rood, who lived in Falls Church, was born in Harlem, Ga. She graduated from what is now Florida State University and attended Stetson University. She moved to the Washington area in the late 1940s and taught briefly in the Prince George's County school system.

In the early 1970s, she returned to teaching in Fairfax County. As a substitute, she often was assigned to Beech Tree Elementary. She retired in 1979 for reasons of health.

Her husband, retired Navy Capt. George H. Rood, died in 1974.

Survivors include two daughters, Sally Ann Rood of Alexandria, and Nancy Lee Rood of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and one sister, Marjorie Bethel of Daytona Beach, Fla.
