Toastmasters win 1st-place awards

Goldmine Toastmaster members Bill Battermann and Sam Mullis recently won first-place awards at the Area 34 Table Topics and International Speech contests in Cornelius.Battermann won the International Speech Contest; Mullis took top honors in the Table Topics Contest.

Other participating Goldmine members were Jay Nodine, Kim Jackson, Al Minter and Lee Johnston.

Ken Miller of the Yawn Patrol Toastmasters club in Concord won second place in Table Topics contest.

The division competition will be Saturday in Charlotte.
