 brothers added to slaying suspects

MONROE - Two brothers were charged late Monday in a murder case in which
charges already had been filed against their mother, a third brother and
another man in a Sunday slaying.

Union County Sheriff Frank McGuirt said Robert Scott Swinney, 17, and
Jeffery Paul Swinney, 16, of 1117-A Deese Rd. are being held in the Union
County jail without bond in connection with the shooting death of Jerry Paul
Mullis, 45.
Mullis was shot and beaten about 5 p.m. Sunday at the rear of a mobile home at 1303 Wallace Rd.

Sandra Swinney, 40, of 1117-A Deese Road was charged with murder Monday and is being held without bond. Glenn Scott Morris, 29, of the same address was
charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting
serious injury.

Jason Allen Swinney, 22, of 1117-B Deese Rd. also was charged Monday with
assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Morris is being held under $20,000 bond, and Jason Swinney under $5,000
bond. All are scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Union County District Court on Jan. 6.
