Leroy Wilson “Moon” Mullis, 95, of Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in Stanly Regional Medical Center. His funeral was at11 a.m. Thursday in Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Nick Rochester officiated and burial was in Palestine Cemetery.Born Jan. 5, 1913, in Cornwall, N.Y,. he was a son of the late Harvey and Annie Ury Mullis and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. He wasa World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.He was first married to Grace Dennis Mullis who preceded him in death in 1978 and second to Maggie Doby Mullis who preceded him in death in 1998. A brother, Claude Mullis, two sisters, Ruth Luther and Helen Barbee, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Ellen Mullis, also preceded him in death.He is survived by two sons, Reggie Lee Mullis and wife, Cindy of Stanfield and Michael Mullis and wife, Allison, of Albemarle; a brother, Robert Mullis of Albemarle; two sisters, Katherine Webster of Badin and Mildred Teal of Albemarle; and three grandchildren, Katie, Garrett and Courtney.Stanly Funeral Home is in charge.
