The pumps at Mullis Exxon Service Station on Eighth and Beech streets have almost run dry after a weeklong gas sale.

The service station is going out of business and is trying to empty its tanks.

Laura Mullis, daughter-in-law of owner Ray Mullis, estimated the gas station sold 2,500 gallons during Saturday's two-hour sale. Another 3,500 gallons were sold during Monday's nine-hour sale. All grades of gas were sold at $3.79 a gallon.

"It went great," Mullis said. "We probably have about 500 gallons left."
